Area city center

Viverone is a quaint village nestled along the shores of its namesake lake, situated at the border of the Biella and Turin provinces. It is surrounded by a hilly landscape characterized by vineyards, forests, and bodies of water. The area retains an authentic charm, marked by a slow pace of life, deeply rooted culinary traditions, and a bountiful nature that encourages relaxation and exploration. The glacial Lake Viverone is one of the largest in Piedmont. Its calm, swimmable waters are bordered by equipped beaches, establishments, small docks, and scenic walking paths. In the summer, the area comes alive with sports and recreational activities, including rowing, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, and boat trips. The presence of numerous establishments along the shores, such as kiosks, small restaurants, and wine bars, makes even a simple sunset stroll enjoyable. The natural environment is particularly noteworthy from both a wildlife and botanical perspective, earning it recognition as a site of community interest. The hills surrounding the lake are dotted with vineyards that produce the famous Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG, a fresh and mineral white wine, often paired with winery tours and tastings. Viverone's prime location also offers easy access to significant historical and cultural sites. Ivrea, with its medieval historical center and the industrial rationalist architecture associated with the Olivetti era, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Nearby, the Masino Castle, an ancient residence managed by the FAI, overlooks the Canavese plain. In the opposite direction, Biella presents a blend of industrial archaeology, textile tradition, and spirituality, highlighted by the Oropa Sanctuary, an important stop along a pilgrimage that also passes through Viverone. The region is traversed by two significant routes: the Via Francigena and the Oropa Path, which attract walkers and pilgrims each year to explore lesser-known landscapes and historically rich locations. Adding to the experience, the Viverone pile-dwelling village, part of the UNESCO heritage of “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings of the Alpine Arc,” attests to human presence in these lands since prehistoric times. With its mild climate, local hospitality, and an abundance of events related to wine, cuisine, and culture, Viverone is an ideal destination for relaxing and authentic stays throughout the year.
